The Board of Directors of South Western Insurance Group Limited (SWG) is pleased to announce that John Barclay has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of the company.
The appointment follows Mr. Mack Rooney’s decision late last year to step back from the role. The Board underwent a Canada-wide search culminating in this announcement.
Mr. Barclay brings to the role more than 25 years experience in the industry across all facets of the business. Before joining SWG, John progressed through a variety of management and leadership positions with a large global insurance broker and most recently as President of a leading Canadian specialty MGA. John will work with the Board and SWG leadership to define and lead the growth strategy and further enhance the breadth and quality of our customer and broker strategies. Under John’s executive leadership , SWG is embarking upon a very exciting new phase of development. Together there is a great deal SWG will be able to accomplish to ensure our employees, brokers and customers are well served.
Mr. Rooney will continue to contribute to the company in an advisory capacity. The Board wishes to acknowledge Mack’s contribution to the company during his tenure as President and looks forward to his ongoing contribution.
