For brokers with clients who view leisure as an important part of their lifestyle, South Western Insurance Group Limited’s Elite Book has everything they need. And while the insurance policies involved may be relatively standard, the range of options provided makes the Elite collection of coverages anything but average.
Having worked with the impressive diversity of personal lines covered by the Elite Book for the past decade or so, Junior Underwriter Sunyna Dwivedi describes why she believes her company has come to be viewed as something of a leisure/lifestyle expert.
“I deal in both commercial and personal insurance, but the personal coverages offered by our Elite Book product are – in some ways – treated like a separate and very special division of SWG. What we are really doing is supporting leisure as a lifestyle: one that revolves around boats and cottages, motorhomes and trailers.”
So which types of properties are most likely to bring Elite-ready clients through the door?
- Holiday Trailers
- Mobile Homes
- Motor Homes
- Park Model Trailers
- Vacation Trailers
- Seasonal and Secondary Cottages
According to Dwivedi, one of the best things about the Elite Book is the fact that it caters to an assortment of clients. But, she adds, while the company’s distinguished collection of personal coverages has remained fairly consistent over the years, a couple of recent changes are causing a bit of a stir.
“In our cottage program, the rental time allotted for insurance coverage increased dramatically less than a year ago. The market is now willing to write up to 180 days – which is pretty much half of the year – whereas before, the policy standard was four weeks, with an option to extend to a maximum of eight weeks. So that has become a pretty big selling factor for our brokers.”
Not surprisingly, Dwivedi describes the response to this improved rental exposure coverage as “very good.” But things get even better when there is a boat or two involved.
“With regard to our watercraft product,” says Dwivedi, “the market expanded the types of boats they are willing to write just a couple of months ago. Anything from Sea-Doos to fishing boats to cruisers are eligible for coverage. And that is a pretty big deal, because not everyone will take on a Sea-Doo. It gives our brokers a bit of an edge.”
So no matter what kind of policy a leisure/lifestyle client may need, South Western Insurance Group Limited’s Elite Book is sure to have it covered. In fact, depending on the age and category of the property involved, this coverage may include:
- named perils replacement costs
- guaranteed replacement costs
- personal property
- increased contents
- additional living expenses
- deductible options
- additional coverage options such as golf cart liability
“There is usually quite a bit to play with,” says Dwivedi, “because in most cases, there is a broad scope of options to choose from. In fact, I would say that it is the extensive selection of coverages and products available that makes our Elite Book so appealing to brokers.”
