Job Description

Responsible for production and underwriting of Commercial and Environmental Impairment Liability (EIL) business within the Casualty Division and contributing to the overall division efforts at achieving objectives.

Job Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years Commercial underwriting experience is preferred.
  • Experience in environmental underwriting an asset but not required.
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic.
  • Strong business and interpersonal communication skills (written and oral).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proven sales, negotiation and analytical skills.
  • University degree or equivalent post-secondary education.

Specific Accountabilities

Production and underwriting on an assigned book of EIL new and renewal business, including analysis of risk and negotiation of policy terms and conditions.

Liaise with Lloyd's of London contacts to ensure product viability in the Canadian Marketplace. Expand and maintain SWG broker base through regular sales calls/visits promoting the Casualty Division and other SWG product offerings.

Maintain and grow relationships with key brokers in order to enhance SWG business opportunities. Demonstrate effective prioritization of workload and provide superior customer service. Work closely with manager to ensure consistency with underwriting protocols and product strategies.

Keep the management team abreast of key developments on broker/market intelligence. Work with other SWG business units to leverage multi-line business opportunities. Other duties as may be assigned.
